Our Lady of Lourdes Stroke Center Receives Achievement Award

Our Lady of Lourdes Stroke Center has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2011 Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.  The award recognizes Lourdes commitment and accomplishment implementing excellent care for stroke patients in line with the Get With The Guidelines® program. 

To receive the award, Lourdes achieved at least 85 percent compliance in each of the seven Get With The Guidelines Stroke Measures for 24 consecutive months or more.  The Plus is an additional level of recognition for expanded efforts in improving patient care through evidence-based practices.

Lourdes Stroke Center of Excellence was one of the first hospitals in the state to receive the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers in 2009, signifying that it provides the critical elements needed to achieve long-term success in improving patient outcomes and is effectively managed to meet the specialized needs of stroke patients.  In 2010 Lourdes began a regional initiative called the Louisiana Stroke Network which provides neurology, interventional radiology and neurosurgery services in the rural towns of Opelousas, New Iberia and Jennings with the use of robotic telemedicine technology.
